Looking for a great way to start the new year?  Start designing a winter camp for your church to help your members get spiritually charged!  If you're thinking... yea, that is a good idea, our group would really benefit from a new year's re-charge...  Start making plans by setting a spiritual goal or mission that the event needs to accomplish.  Then build objectives that will help you to meet those goals as you plan in the details of your event.  Let the goal of the event drive your choice of property, dates, activities, etc.

We are proud to introduce to you Wes Stoner, our new Group Accounts Manager!  Wes joined the Midwest Christian Retreats planning team in May.  Wes spent several years planning group travel in Branson, MO and as a youth pastor.  Wes is a great addition to the team!  He has spent many years on the planners' side of the table and he understands the value of off-site ministry.  He also has effective planning ideas - not just for the nuts and bolts - but also for the ministry aspects of retreats.  Wes, his wife Paula, and two children are in the process of moving to the MCR headquarters at Lake Williamson Christian Center.

Yesterday the Midwest Christian Retreats Consulting and Retreat Planning Teams based from Lake Williamson took a road trip over to visit our friends at Lake Placid Conference Center!  The team headed out to spend the day with our new property director and conference services coordinator, Jack & Teri Shiflett.

We had a GREAT day with the team at LP.  Jack and Teri are great leaders, they have a heart to serve and a deep love for Christ.  They will continue the tradition of excellence in Guest Services at Lake Placid Conference Center.  While we were on-site Aaron & Joel also got some GREAT photos of the property and the guests having a BLAST at Teen Camp!  Slip'n Slide Kickball, Beachfront, Morning Service...  Great summer fun!

Why Camp?

It seems as if summer is coming at us faster than we want it to. So it is time to get out the Wii Fit or go for a run to try to be prepared for beach season, plus we’ve got to get the grill fired up, plan a trip to grandmas house, get the yard mowed, AND get the kids signed up for a camp or youth retreat.

Isn’t it easy to get tied up in everyday life and “forget” to make time for our spouse?

1 Corinthians 7:27-28 tells us “those who marry will face many troubles in this life”. If we aren’t making time to connect with each other regularly – these troubles can take over and soon we find ourselves in a very unpleasant place.
